This Atlas of County Owned Lands was created by the Westchester County Planning Department sometime in the late 1950s as a reference to help identify lands owned by Westchester County. The first half of the atlas is divided into the major towns and cities in Westchester County and contains both a summary of the lands owned by the County for the town or city and a corresponding map for each town or city. The second half of the atlas contains material specific to parkways, Grasslands, the Westchester County Airport, golf courses, Westchester Community College and County owned buildings. There is also information on lands that were acquired for the construction of major highways (i.e. Saw Mill River Parkway, Hutchinson Parkway, and Cross Westchester Expressway), as well as information on permanent sewer easements, in the last part of the atlas. Most of the information in the atlas appears to date from the 1940s and 1950s.
